In 2015, the CDC reported more than 33,000 deaths from opioid overdoses, and it’s continuing to rise. What we need is a solution, and we know that chiropractic should be a crucial part of that solution. How is that going to happen? By sharing what we know! So help us spread the word! Talk to your patients, your friends and family, strangers on the street, talk to anyone and everyone to help end this epidemic!

Prescription Drug Data Profiles
In 2014, Colorado legislators passed a bill allowing the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to access PDMP data to provide population-level results. In compliance with this legislation, these reports describe population-level data on the prescribing and dispensing of controlled substances from the Colorado PDMP for Colorado residents. The National Association of Attorneys General issued a letter to America’s Health Insurance Plans urging them to take proactive steps in the fight against the opioid addiction crisis by encouraging the review of payment and coverage policies, and prioritizing non-opioid pain management options over opioid prescriptions for the treatment of chronic, non-cancer pain. The American Chiropractic Association issued a follow-up letter to American’s Health Insurance Plans to show support for the Attorneys General statements, stating “chiropractors can serve as an important first-line of defense in the prescription painkiller epidemic.” Read more
